  Africa’s rich culinary traditions are more than just food — they are a living record of culture, history, and identity. From local soups, sauces, and grains to region-specific spices, each dish tells a story that has been passed down through generations. Yet, across the continent, these culinary practices are at risk. Migration, modernization, and the pervasive influence of European culture have led to a loss of knowledge, endangered local recipes, and the subtle erosion of cultural identity. In Nigeria, for example, many young people are more familiar with European foods and fast foods than with traditional dishes. The language we speak, the clothes we wear, and even the food we consume often reflect external influences rather than indigenous practices.
